The Maven Heritage

Stephen Pratt

Inspired by a childhood spent fishing the Firth of Thames, Maven was born in Auckland in 2007. Our passions are design, technology and fishing, and we set out to bring these together to create the finest of fishing rods.

As at home on a super yacht as the local lake, Maven rods blend purist design aesthetics and an impeccable technical pedigree to create a modern classic. Each rod features a retro chic longitudinal pinstripe and arch pattern – the lengthways pinstripe being a world first for a fishing rod and recognised by registered design mark.

We value simplicity, refined styling, attention to detail and hand craftsmanship. Combined with advanced technology, these are the hallmarks of a Maven rod and you’ll see these in each and every one. We wanted to create rods that would be truly treasured, and bring many years of enjoyment.

Our team works from a state of the art facility situated on the edge of native bushland in Auckland, New Zealand. We use world-renowned, New Zealand made CTS rod blanks and only the best rod componentry to create handcrafted fishing rods of unmatched quality and performance. Maven is designed to provide the best for every fishing experience.

Maven Crest

Maven’s crest – an expression of our love for our land and waterways, and for New Zealand made treasures. Taonga Tuku iho, meaning legacy, best exemplifies the rationale and purpose of our signature crest. It also acknowledges that the design represents a unique, locally manufactured treasure that is tuturu Aotearoa.

A fusion of cultural images from the domain of Tangaroa (guardian of the oceans, rivers, lakes and of all fish species) anchors us to the past, which is fitting and appropriately supported and enhanced by a strong engineered element that is geared towards the future.
